Dave has the knowledge and experience to make your trip an adventure to treasure for years to come.

David Boyd grew up in the little fishing village of Tizzard’s Harbour on New World Island, just across the waters from Twillingate, and fished cod traps with his father and crew at a very tender age. Spending time as an educator, commercial photographer, writer, poet, fisherman and jack of all trades in a career spanning half a century, Capt. Dave’s passion for and knowledge of the sea will keep you safe while providing you with an experience of a lifetime.

With salt in his veins and a passion for outport life, Capt. Dave has created with the help of his wife, Christine, the Twillingate Fishery & Heritage Center, aptly named Prime Berth, and located at Main Tickle, just as you cross the causeway to Twillingate Islands. Look for the whale tail to your left as you drive across the causeway.

Apart from Capt. Dave’s Tours, Prime Berth, is also the first place you see as you reach Twillingate Island and, we believe,  “ the last place you’ll forget.”

I cannot imagine a nicer way to see the icebergs! Captain Dave is a great host. He really personalized the trip and we were up close and personal with some beautiful icebergs in Wild Cove! I highly recommend Captain Dave for an iceberg tour. There is also a wonderful gift shop to visit before or after your boat tour!

We stopped into prime berth to kill some time since another thing we had booked in town was canceled - it was a spontaneous decision to go out with Captain Dave but what a treat.

We saw osprey, an eagles nest, lots of gulls and got to try some catch and release cod fishing. Being out on the water with Capt Dave was like being out with family - a super friendly guy with a great sense of humour and lots of stories to tell.

Great experience with Capt Dave. Small group, great local knowledge and experience and a no fuss tour. From our first call with Christine, we were looked after with the scheduling of our tour to suit our arrival time in Twillingate. Awesome view of and proximity to the Iceberg. Thanks again

Captain Dave and his lovely wife Christine went out of their way to make our trip a memorable one. Great value for money, with a 2-hour trip seeing a 10 000+-year-old iceberg, Twillingate harbour, etc. Highly recommended!

My family went out with Captain Dave this morning- what an amazing experience! We saw several large icebergs, two eagles, and watched him pull up a few lobsters. I would definitely recommend booking with him.

His wife is so lovely and caring with a great big heart !!
Captain Dave is a great man who is fun to tour with!
He took us to three different icebergs in mid-May in the cold, through ice !!!
His museum is really great for phototherapy!
Our 7 year old loved it!
We loved it!
Highly recommend this tour! Smaller boat give you a fantastic experience that a big boat just is not capable of!
